Unexpected - marquetry presentations for print It would be very few people who possess a book with a wooden cover. To receive one as a gift places the giver in a special place of the memory. Books of a personal nature suggest themselves: journals, diaries, tasting books and cellar records. We are able to rebind existing books, or to supply the finished case to a book binder. Books for hotel rooms and distributions to conference delegates or trade missions could hardly be more impressive. Company reports, submissions for new business and approaches to officials and agencies acquire status and respect when presented in wood. Not only does wood have a most beautiful appearance and is especially unusual in this application but it is entirely serviceable. It makes sense to use Glyph products for in-house items in constant use, such as diaries, visitors books, sales kits, and photo albums. A Glyph wood cover does not imply you get 'a pair of doors' on your book: what you can see of our work is a veneer about 0.5mm thick and in some circumstances we would laminate that single skin to a ready-bound book. More often we would make a laminated board (from 1.5mm) and complete the case with leather or similar binding. Some timbers offer lovely grains you would prefer to leave without enhancement. Alternatively we can incorporate a title, a message, a logo or some graphic enhancement according to what the situation demands. |
